Construction Products Regulation (CPR)
You’ll find a multitude of cables in every building. They’re not only used for power supply purposes, but also to transmit signals and data. Particularly with regard to the trend towards smart, networked buildings, increasing numbers of cables and signal cables are being used in new buildings particularly. This naturally increases requirements with respect to the fire behaviour of all kinds of cables too. To take this issue into consideration, from July 2017 onwards cables will also fall under the scope of the EU’s Construction Products Regulation.
Specifically, this means that defined specifications will enter into force in the Construction Products Regulation, CPR for short) and will have to be taken into consideration from July onwards. Accordingly, cables for industrial buildings must be tested in line with several standards and test methods and certified by a notified body.
As of July 2017, Lapp will offer various products from its ÖLFLEX®, UNITRONIC®, ETHERLINE® and HITRONIC® ranges that comply with these standards and may be directly used for industrial buildings. In other words, with Lapp, you’re already playing it safe even today.
